Vector Addition

In class yesterday, we learned about vector additon using the triangle method. Here are the notes for the section:



Then we did an example on it:


Steps for using the triangle method:
1. Draw a scale diagram of the first vector being added.
2. Draw a new coordinate grid at the end of the vector

3. Draw a scale diagram of the next vector
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 if needed for additional vectors
4. Draw a thicker vector from start of the first one to the end of the last one.
5. Measure the distance and angle of the resultant vector, and you have your answer.

. An important thing to remember is that if you take the vectors being added and play around with them, you will still get the same resultant vector
